Eligibility for the Ph.D. Qualifying Exam for the Fall 2026–2027 Semester.

The written qualifying exam consists of 10 questions specific to each program, as determined by the Qualifying Committee. Students taking the exam must answer 8 of these questions. 

Students must score at least 70/100 on the written qualifying exam. Students who do not pass the written qualifying exam cannot take the oral exam. A minimum score of 50/100 is required on the oral qualifying exam. The arithmetic mean of the written and oral qualification exam scores must be at least 70/100. 

The date and location of the written proficiency exam will be announced at a later date.
