U.S.D.K.
USDK (International Internship Exchange Club) has been actively operating for many years as the IAESTE representative office at Yıldız Technical University, one of the 35 universities in Turkey affiliated with the IAESTE organization. In 1984, under the leadership of Dr. Selva ÜNAL, IAESTE activities officially began at Yıldız Technical University with student exchanges. It officially adopted the name International Internship Exchange Club on October 9, 2002.
As Turkey’s first IAESTE Student Committee, the USDK’s primary function is to create opportunities for foreign internship candidates by contacting successful companies in their respective sectors—those that are open to development, have a broad vision, and possess a strong corporate identity—at national and international fairs and conferences, open to development, with a broad vision, and possessing a strong corporate identity, in order to create opportunities for foreign internship candidates; and to create opportunities for our university’s internship candidates by exchanging the arranged internship placements with other countries at the IAESTE International Congress.
USDK Management
Unlike traditional club operations, the club operates under a coordinator system managed by the president. The current coordinator positions include the Corporate Relations Coordinator, who develops the club’s relationships with companies; the Intern Relations Coordination, which supports the social and technical development of club members; and the Promotion and Education Coordination, which is responsible for the club’s promotion and sponsorship efforts—all of which aim to work in harmony with one another.
Why should you do an IAESTE internship?
- Going abroad with IAESTE—meeting, connecting with, and spending time with IAESTE members in other countries—is one of the most important opportunities a student can have during their college years to broaden their horizons. To summarize among the many reasons that could be cited:
- Gaining internship experience—an important part of a university education—at prestigious companies abroad,
- Taking the first steps into the professional world in a different country and within a different cultural environment, thereby gaining not only technical skills but also social experience,
- Gaining proficiency in a foreign language,
- Making friends from the 85 member countries participating in the program, particularly in Europe and the Americas.
