Physical Capabilities

Our department has 5 teaching laboratories and 5 research laboratories , corresponding to the subdisciplines of Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry. The following equipment is required for the Chemistry Department:

- UV spectrophotometer

-FT-IR

-LC-MS

-Elemental analysis

- GC-MS spectrometer

-Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer

-Thermogravimetric analysis

The instrumental analysis laboratory, equipped with these instruments, is designed for comprehensive research in the field of polymer chemistry;

-Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC, Photo-DSC)

-Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA)

-Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC)

-Gel Permeation Chromatography for water-soluble polymers

-Gas Chromatography (GC)

-A macromolecular chemistry laboratory equipped with UV-visible light sources and photoreactors

is available.

In addition, there is a Computational Chemistry Laboratory where molecular modeling, reaction modeling, and kinetic computational studies are conducted using quantum chemical methods. In the Computational Chemistry Laboratory, advanced computers are used to perform calculations—such as semi-empirical, ab initio, DFT, and MP2—using up-to-date software.

In these laboratories, undergraduate and graduate students receive a highly modern education in line with the demands of our time. Furthermore, research is conducted within the framework of DPT, TÜBİTAK, and YTÜ Research Fund projects to meet the needs of the public and private sectors.

Using the databases available on our department’s computers—such as the “American Chemical Society,” “ScienceDirect,” and “Web of Science”—students can easily access the full texts of scientific articles.
